Review available mixing options for UHPC, batch size expectations, and how to plan for washout water and runoff containment on site.
Two mixing options are available for SmartUp UHPC products – a high shear mixer, which can produce up to 1.5 cubic yards in 30 minute batch cycles, or a ready mix truck, which can produce up to 7 cubic yards in 90 minute batch cycles.
Mixers will need periodic washouts to prevent buildup on the equipment. Each washout will use roughly 300 gallons of water, which should be available on site in addition to required batch water.
A washout area will need to be established to catch run off. Care should be taken to prevent dirty run off water from reaching nearby waterways. This washout area can be used for mixers as well as mobile concrete buggies and other tools.
