Identify the equipment required for UHPC mixing and placement, including mixers, power sources, water supply, lifting equipment, and buggies.
Several pieces of equipment will be needed on site to successfully complete a UHPC mixing operation. These include:
A mixer, whether using a portable high shear mixer or a ready mix truck.
A power source for the mixer. For a high shear mixer, a portable generator and qualified electrician will be needed. For a ready mix truck, the truck’s diesel engine will be used.
A water truck to provide water for batching and cleanup operations. Plans may be needed to refill the truck or have onsite water tanks depending on the size of the pour.
A crane, forklift, or lull to load materials into the top of the mixer.
Mobile concrete buggies to move freshly mixed material onto the bridge. Three to four buggies are typically appropriate to provide continuous delivery of material.
